I don't wish to be too pessimistic, but most of the world doesn't seem to be set for increasing liberty. Guatemala is only the most obvious sign of how Latin America is going; Castro's behaviour in Cuba shows how unusual and remarkable a man Cromwell was (this from someone who wears sea-green); South Africa will probably become all the stronger as other colonial powers leave Africa, for example look how Egypt is treating the Palestinians. And in the south Pacific just look at New Guinea.
To complete my pessimism slam, I rather sharethe views of the critic who said sf is not a ghetto but a country club. I'm not sure making it more commercial (and the high brow are just as commercial as Hollywood) will be good for it.
