Heinlein may write in the Astounding style, but he doesn't write for Campbell anymore, and I think F&SF has let him stretch his wings more. I also liked A Door into Summer, which was serialized not too long ago in F&SF.

Dickson is so hit and miss for me. Davidson used to be always a hit for me. He seems to be slacking lately.
