I know a lot of Makah out on the peninsula who would have a lot of things to say about having been wiped out, let me tell you!
I was out near the reservation weekend before last - it got just stupidly hot in Seattle and everyone knows to flee to the peninsula when that happens. Picked up some salmon, cherries are in season, and the beaches are beautiful. And even on the busy weekends like these - most of the hotels were full - it's peaceful.
Clallam Bay has a new motel, though, just open and not well-known yet - the prosaically-named Bay Motel. Very modern, very large rooms, individually keyed, and they have their own phones. Being adventurous really saved my bacon, or at least, my weekend. I took some photos and just got the film back from the developers:
(I don't have a picture of the sign - they were still putting it up, that's how new they are. And neither of those are my car, I have a little blue and white Fairlane - I splurged a few years ago, but I don't regret it. I like that convertible, though...!)
I'm so happy one of the sunset photos came out. The little dot next to the large glow isn't a lens artefact - it's how it actually looked in person! For a few minutes, it looked like two suns in the sky, in person, and I was able to capture it. If only I'd shelled out extra for the colour film:
