Perhaps. Even having a terminal connected with an off-site computer far away would be advanced stuff, indeed. That said, the villain's obsession with secrecy would suggest that he, in fact, had a full-sized computer's power in a little box on his desk!
I wouldn't have thought it plausible, but I have friends working on "digital components" for the new satellites scheduled to launch this year, and it is just conceivable that such things could be miniaturized such that one could have an digital slide rule, of sorts.
Imagine the time saved if one could have their own computer to do arithmetic calculations in seconds!
