I tend to like fairly long short stories, so I guess the novelette is about right for me. (Of course, there are good and bad stories at any length; it's just that long bad stories hurt so much . . .)
I found "The Shout" to be an extraordinarily fascinating and enigmatic tale. It was odd that they reprinted it twice; maybe just forgetfulness.
